WATERVILLE - The next Business Breakfast Series, presented by Thomas College with the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, will focus on the aging workforce. The talk, by William McPeck, will be held at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 8 in the Student Center Atrium.
McPeck is director of employee health and safety for Maine state government.
This presentation will look at the physical, social and psychological aspects associated with recruiting and retaining an aging workforce. With Maine's workforce getting older, greater numbers of workers are approaching retirement age and fewer younger workers are available to replace them, workforce experts say.
Maine's employers are faced with significant challenges. McPeck believes these challenges can be either a calamity or opportunity.
The presentation will be held in the college's Student Center Atrium on campus located at 180 West River Road in Waterville. The cost per person is $14 for members with advanced registration, $16 for members at the door and $20 for non-members.
