NORTH ANSON - Police have filed a terrorizing charge against a North Anson woman who on Christmas Day allegedly spread an accelerant on her domestic partner and residence at 84 Union Street, with the intention of setting both on fire.

Vernie Chaky, 61, is being held on $5,000 cash bail at Somerset County Jail in Madison. Lt. Carl E. Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff's Department said Friday that the district attorney's office is contemplating further charges against her.

Gottardi would not name the alleged victim, who is 51.

The man fled the scene early Thursday afternoon to call police, Gottardi said. Chaky did not start a fire, Gottardi said.
