AUGUSTA - Police are searching for the person responsible for allegedly robbing a walker Sunday evening along the Kennebec River Rail Trail.
No injuries were reported and no money was stolen when a unknown man reportedly walked up to another man and demanded an item the victim was wearing, Augusta police Lt. Jared Mills said.
Investigators are still trying to determine if a weapon was used. "The victim was unclear on that," Mills said.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. as the victim, described as a 20-year-old male, was walking near Overhead Door Company and was approached by an unknown man wearing a green jacket with a hood, Mills said.
Mills declined to specify the item the robber demanded, but said it is not particularly valuable.
"Once the item was given over, the other individual ran," Mills said.
Police from Augusta and Hallowell were unable to find the robber. The victim said no one else was in the area at the time of the robbery.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Officer Niko Hample at the Augusta Police Department at 626-2370 ext. 320.
