The Legislature's Appropriations Committee will continue public hearings today on various parts of Gov. John Baldacci's proposal to close a $140 million gap in the state budget.

The schedule today includes the Department of Economic and Community Development, Department of Labor and Department of Education.

Legislative leaders are pushing for a vote on the supplemental budget by the full Legislature by Feb. 1. Baldacci is scheduled to release the new two-year budget on Friday.
