A winter storm watch has been posted by the National Weather Service for all of central Maine for tonight and throughout the day on Wednesday.
Snow will begin over southern New Hampshire early Wednesday and work its way northward during the day.
A secondary low is expected to develop over the Gulf of Maine during the late afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday.
This will bring a little extra energy to the storm system and prolong the snow storm into Wednesday night, according to the weather service.
Locations near the coast may see the snow mix with sleet and freezing rain late Wednesday afternoon.
While the track of the storm remains uncertain, snow accumulation of 6 inches is possible across the region.
