IN THE WEATHER:

Wowie zowie, it is cold out there! And it's not going to get much better as the day progresses. You'll need the full regalia - hats, boots, gloves and a scarf, because a cold wind will make the temperatures feel much colder than the projected high of 24.
Tonight, temperatures head down to zero and snow returns for Saturday.
THE SUNRISE HERALD WEATHER WATCHERS REPORT:

Shawn in Yarmouth says: Well, that promised cold air is here. It is a very chilly 15 degrees here in Yarmouth this morning. There is no wind and the sky is velvety black with pinpricks of light showing through. Remember those layers today!
James in Cape Elizabeth says: It is a dark and clear morning and COLD. It is a frosty 8 degrees at 6 a.m. with the barest of breezes blowing. Dogs didn't even want to stay out for the usual lengthy morning constitutional. I don't blame them. Going to be a VERY COLD weekend and I wish everyone a good and safe one.
Mark in Brunswick says: Considerably colder this a.m. in Brunswick, as we have 13 degrees and clear skies above.

Because of the break, Greater Portland Christian School is without water and therefore closed today.
• Milliken Street and River Park Industrial Parkway in Portland are now open after a water main break closed them for a good part of the night. There should be no traffic troubles there.
