BANGOR -- A 59-year-old Skowhegan man will spend 78 months (6.5 years) in prison for a federal crime of possessing child pornography on his computer.

Dana Earl Cully was sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court in Bangor. He pleaded guilty in the same court on June 6, 2008.

During that time, Cully admitted to downloading and transmitting child pornography over the Internet at his home in 2006. After consenting to a police search in October 2006, Maine State Police officers found over 1,000 images of child pornography on his computer.

In addition to his prison term, Cully will also serve five years of supervised release.
