Waterville police caution businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills, since the Big Apple on Elm Street reportedly received two counterfeit $20 bills this week.
Sgt. Joseph Shepherd said Friday that police Officer Dennis Picard met with the store manager Friday morning and she told him she was counting money from the safe and discovered the two counterfeit bills, which looked very authentic.
Anyone who receives what he or she thinks may be a counterfeit bill should call the Police Department immediately at 680-4700, Shepherd said.
