AUGUSTA -- One of the I-95 southbound lanes in Augusta has re-opened, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

State Police had closed the lanes running through Maine's capital for nearly an hour as police, firefighters and paramedics responded to at least a dozen accidents on a three-mile stretch of the interstate highway.

The accidents included roll-overs and crashes, according to McCausland and separate police broadcasts. Some injuries were reported, McCausland said. It was unclear early this afternoon how severe those injuries were.
