General Dynamics has won a contract to produce up to 82 guns specifically designed for attack airplanes being produced by Korea Aerospace Industries.
Korean Aerospace Industries awarded the contract to General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products division and the A-50 20 mm guns will be manufactured at the company's Saco facility.
General Dynamics officials said the A-50 guns were developed by General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products specifically for the T/A-50 light trainer/attack aircraft developed by KAI. The guns give the relatively small aircraft gun capabilities of a larger fighter aircraft, according to program manager Steve Vander Kraats.
The value of the contract was not disclosed.
