FAIRFIELD - Police Chief John Emery has presented veteran Detective Kingston W. Paul with a letter of commendation.

The town council will do the same during tonight's meeting at the Fairfield Community Center, which begins at 7.

Paul spent many hours to help solve an onslaught of daytime burglaries in Fairfield last fall, Emery said. Another round of burglaries, some involving firearms, started up soon afterward, Emery said.

"He solved the first bunch, then on the second bunch he was to go on vacation," Emery said. "He decided that was more important, let his vacation go and wound up solving them."
