WATERVILLE -- Kennebec Messalonskee Trails will host a cross-country ski and snowshoe event at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at the new recreational trails being developed along the Quarry Road and Messalonskee Stream.

Ski trails are open to the public on Quarry Road and at the North Street playground with an expanded network of trails planned for the future.

The trails project is a collaboration of the city of Waterville, Kennebec Messalonskee Trails, and Central Maine Ski Club. Parking for the event will be under the interstate overpass on Quarry Road, off North Street.

People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Joseph's Sporting Goods in Fairfield is offering a special equipment rental rate of $5 for the event and can be reached at 453-9756.
