EAST DIXFIELD - About 40 firefighters from seven area departments worked to extinguish a blaze that destroyed an uninusured home on U.S. Route 2.

David Swett, who is unemployed, and his wife, Roxanne lost everything in the fire that was fully engulfed within minutes of the alarm, said East Dixfield Chief Randy Hall. The fire started in an electrical panel in the cellar of the 100-year-old house.

Assisting East Dixfield were departments from Wilton, Jay, Temple, Dixfield, Chesterville and Livermore Falls.
