Who the hell are these so-called "Legislative leaders", and if they're leaders why don't they have the moral courage to do their own job? This is just more phoney baloney coming out of Augusta. When the Governor came up with ways to save money recently, some of these legislators said it wasn't his job, that it was their function. OK, fair enough. But now when they're in session one of the first things they do is try to delegate this non-delegable duty to a group that isn't elected, takes no oath of office, and will not make its recommendations until 2009.report abuse

MIKE I too would question---- WHO and which "citizens" would BE on this committe. My first asassumption is it would be the 1.state chamber of commerce, 2.other local chamber of commerce ,3. LL Bean, 4, 5, a couple of paper companies and 7 fairchild semiconductor.
Basically the same people running our state into the ground and making the decisions NOW thru their lobbyists.
MY view to that type of so called "citizen commiteee"---UH NO thanksreport abuse

Jeff of Lewiston, I agree with you 100%. If the 9 member committee is comprised of regular people that have no financial stake in Maine's business as usual, tax and spend, I never met a program I didn't like way of doing business, AND the legislature listens to their suggestions, the savings could very well exceed $75,000,000.report abuse
