The wind towers are the next ethanol; a rip off. There will not be one polluting power plant shut down that supports your region.report abuseMaine Commenter

Well said, Frank. We need to reduce our dependence on polluting, foreign oil. Some of Maine's environmental groups are out to lunch by opposing wind power. Sheesh.report abuseKim Lary

We need to do something and soon. It's a good start no matter where the power ends up. It's a global matter, not just a Maine problem. We may not see the savings in our electric bill but maybe our kids or grandkids would eventually. But more importantly, we would be saving the earth for the next generations by cutting the use of fossil fuels. We need to start somewhere, sometime so why not here and now?report abuse

Easy there Frank. I would be happy to walk you back to school because obviously your reading comprehension is below grade level. I am for the wind towers for the same reasons as you. I was being smart in welcoming the NIMBY's that are sure to show up shortly.

Interestingly, I read an article about wind power. It indicated that most, if not all, wind developers understand that wind power is not a "forever" technology, and most likely will be an interim solution. When this comes to pass the towers are taken down and the site is rehabbed, nobody needs to ever know there was a power plant on-sight. Stupidly hanging onto coal, oil, and natural gas for all of our power will cause far more damage to the aesthetics of the State than the 20-50 year life span of most of these wind farms. Just a thought, but consider the impact of a full fledged power plant and how you would remediate the site at the end of it's life.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment.
