The new women-only shelter's location is a bit interesting. Surrounded by OXford St. on one side, Preble St. on the other and Portland St. yet on the other side.
Not exactly the land of OZ, my dear OXford University friends!report abuse

OZZY is re-scheduled for 1/31/08...1-year anniversary of Preble Street Resource Center's relatively new Women's Night Shelter for female homeless Portlanders, which opened on 1/31/07 when the city-run shelter OXford Street Homeless Shelter instituted its new policy of men-only.

How was anyone even supposed to know Ozzie was playing? This was the first I've heard. PPH, can you advertise a concert before you announce its cancellation? I'm not a huge Ozzie fan and am certainly not going to Google his concert schedule, but it would be nice if our local papers did a better job of publicizing upcoming events; and that includes all local events in the localities of Blethen papers. How many people know "Cats" is at the Augusta Civic Center Feb. 12.?report abusetim

And I don't know why we're talking about the Civic Center staff but I have nothing but respect for them. I went to the Korn show in October and I was right in front, next to the railing. I never had a problem with security but at other venues, the event staff were rude jackasses (to everyone). The only thing I don't like about the civic center is that it's tiny and we're pretty lucky to get some big acts (like Ozzy) from time to time.report abuse

This show is close to being sold out so it definitely was not due to ticket sales. If the show wasn't seated, it would've sold out EASILY but now they only have the obstructed view seats left. If it was GA, I bet it would've sold out a few weeks ago.
