People can support whoever they want and indeed, in a free country, I can say what I want to say.
Do I like rich New Yorkers arrogantly pushing Mainers aside and buying up the coastline? No. Do I like the Gucci clad cocktail crowd schmoozing in NY with New Yorkers getting their liberal agenda into Maine? No I don't.
Does that bother you?
I don't care.
I cringe when I see "celebrities" come here and quickly elbow aside the people who have sweat and bled to make a living here. Does Glenn Close personify that? Perhaps. But, why do they need a fundraiser in Manhattan for a Maine candidate? Seems a bit rude to me and arrogant as well.
So, hey, there's what I think. Ayuh, straight shooter...... that's us Mainers.report abuse

That is a really stupid post. Since when do you need to be a third generation hick to support a candidate? Why dont you move up to "the county" or did you come from there? People can support whoever they want.report abuse

Glenn Close is married to a guy that brings in a lot of money to Maine. But regardless, she is entitled to her opinion and it isn't necessarily stupid; she also has the right to help raise money for a candidate she likes. In America even people like Nonny are allowed to express their opinions. But that doesn't change the fact that the newspaper shouldn't promote a candidate by advertising a celebrity endorsement. Just because a campaign puts out a press release (i.e. advertisement) doesn't mean the press should release it.report abusestpdmrn

1. I've met Adam. He's definately not stupid.
2. Who's is for cutting off funding. Everything I have seen calls for fully funding a withdrawel. And there are many Republicans that support the same policy. Nearly all Democrats also support increasing soldiers pay, quality of medical care, and benefits for disabled soldiers.

"And I can't understand why a war vet would want to be seen with a "party" of people who wanted to cut off funding for troops! STUPID."
