This is a great state and Portland is a great city. Congratulations on this honor.

I agree that Portland is a great city. It has a huge amount to offer for it's size. I have been to much larger cities that can't compare and that is no joke. I just wish it got the low tax award or the friendly to business award. By nature this award illustrates a level of over control and one might say lack of openness on the part of the city. If you are politically a certain way you are welcome and if not then as one poster put it...MOVE. I am not against a green award at all. I think there are lots of very positive things we can all do to be more green that is actually just beneficial to everyone in every respect. I really dislike behavior control laws though and while I realize some are necessary it sounds like this award was given to Portland because of some of their "behavior police" laws. The supposed green movement shouldn't be about forcing control but about education and doing things that actually save people money through green practice. I know someone will say that isn't possible but that is just not true. It is all about attitude and what we can do.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment.
