You make a valid point about how many schools have been actually been bombed, but I certainly wouldn't want to see that "one time" that it did happen. Especially since I have a child in BHS. But I wouldn't want any parent to have to experience something like that. And as far as I know, there have been several bomb threats at BHS and at neighboring schools in the six years that I have lived in the area, and in ALL of these instances, the schools NEVER ignored them. Precautions were always taken. I'm sure that people are just as capable of bombing a school as they are of walking in and open firing a weapon on their classmates. Just because a bombing has never happened does not mean it couldn't, or won't, for that matter. I wouldn't want Biddeford to become known for when we, as a nation, started taking bomb threats seriously as Columbine taught us to take threats of shootings seriously.
Yeah it is a pain and the students already have time to make up which will extend far into June. But I would rather see my child lose a few days of summer vacations rather that be at risk for losing her life.report abuse

I would much rather have the children sent home, no matter if no bomb threats have ever occured. Ignoring the threats is putting all of these lives into the school officials hands, which is too great of a responsibility. I would NEVER want my children left inside just because no threats have actually taken place. Isn't protecting our children our number one priority???report abuseRebel

9 times out of 10, it usually a student thinking it's cute. Trouble is everyone pays whether there's one or not - they have to make up school until June 18th, partly because of the winter weather and now because of this.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment.
