Psssssst, Frank...There's only one divided highway in Augusta...It's the greedy little town of Gardiner that has two. And I bet Brian uses them both multiple times a day!report abuseKeith

As for making the northbound lanes two-way ... I just don't know how well that will work. I fear people's impatience will get the best of them and we'd see lots of accidents.
As for Frank in Jay, why not just eliminate Route 4 and make them use Route 133? Who needs two roads through that depressed little hole of a mill town anyway?report abuse

I travel this road every day. This is a case of a lot of pain over a short period of time -- versus moderate pain over a much longer period of time. Given the choice, I lean toward a short pain period, which means shutting it down.

What the state needs to do is close one lane on the north bound lane so the South bound lane can cross over at the Gardiner Toll Booth with that there will be no exits . If taffic needs the exits Use 201 Safety 1st The will be back up but safety is first .Rte 201 cant handle the traffic.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment.
