I recently moved here from Maine. To get a NC driver's license, I had to provide the following:
1. Proof of US citizenship or legal immigration status, and
2. Proof of residence in NC
Why shouldn't Maine have the same requirements as other states?report abuse

Give me a break! I see nothing unreasonable about asking someone to prove citizenship and residency before issuing him or her a driver's license. Receiving a license is not a right.
