1) Mr. Tanguay retired last summer and is no longer a teacher at Windham High. He did not go on teaching for years and years after being arrested.
2) Our school is very open towards people of all sexualities. I know for a fact that I have had at least one LGBT teacher while attending Windham, and our school has an active Civil Rights Team and Gay-Straight Alliance.
3) Regarding our Sex Ed program. While the program used to educate students about sex promotes abstinence, it also educates students about condoms, birth control and other contraceptives and protection against STDs and STIs. While there is of course room for improvement, it is far from being negligent or abstinence-based.

TyphoidJenny, I would just like to respond to your comments about the way that Windham High School is run. Seeing as I am currently a student at Windham High School, I feel a bit more qualified to make comments about conduct regarding teachers and our sexual education program.

Bethany- The secretary left at the end of that year after working at that school for about 15 years, to pursue another career based in her home which still gives her contact with kids. I did bring the subject up with the teacher she claimed to know nothing about it.When I asked my child about it she became/becomes irritated. At one point she had some issues with another student at school and when talking with the new guidence counselor it was everything is great at school it must be something that is going on at home. So with out proof of pictures what should I do. My kid either does not remember or refuses to talk about it.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment.
