This is why i think Maine is a state of a bunch of DOPES. And i can assure you people in the other 49 states believe that too.

Over and over Maine Officials pronounced how the state of Maine is going to get tough on drunk drivers, tough on teens and young adults drinking. THEN when someone gets killed by alochol abuse, the State of Maine gives the culprits a handful of days in jail.

Funny how you all talk about personal responsibility and being an adult (etc, etc, etc), but the young man who died was NOT an adult under the law w/ regard to drinking. And the man who furnished the booze had the responsiblity to know the law. By excusing his behavior you are, in essence, saying that HE should not be held personally responsible.
Don't like the law? Change it. Otherwise, expect people to follow it and have them face consequences when they don't. It reall IS that simple; it's about the LAW.report abuse

Well said Kevin.... Although the deceased was in the US, don't forget that he was from Britain, which has a much lower drinking age... I believe its 16 for beer and 18 for hard liquor. Jeeezeee.... what is the objective of having the drinking age at 21? Unfortunately tragedies like this will happen.... That's part of life no matter what the legal drinking age is (as we can read again and again). May be this would not have happened if the legal age would have been 18 and the kids could have gone to pub or bar instead of hiding somewhere, drinking. Let those young adults socialize in public!report abuse
