Buy only what you can afford and pay off the balance every month and the credit card will not cost you a cent. If someone else is getting nailed with high interest rates and other fees, that should be their problem, not mine. Same goes for people who stupidly sign ARM mortgages for homes they can not afford. They are not losing anything on the foreclosure because they put little or nothing down. So not I repeat DO NOT bail them out!report abuse

Oh for heavens sake Stebbins... have you never heard of the concept of personal responsibility? People who get in over their heads with credit cards and other debt have no one to blame but themselves. I've been poor. I've supported myself on minimum wage by sharing an apartment with a roommate, shopping at thrift shops, never dining out, having an old clunker of a used car, and NOT shopping at L.L. Bean. Now that I've finally pulled myself up by the bootstraps, I can afford to splurge a little once in a while. But not always.

H. Munster......I am done dealing with companies that have call centers in India as well. We shouldn't have to learn a new language to get customer service.report abusemainejeff

PortlandMike......have you ever dealt with B of A? LL Bean did us cardholders all a favor. LL Bean entered into a business relationship with MBNA, not B of A.report abuseHermann Munster

BoA was a decent banking company until about the time they took over Bank of Boston and a couple other big banks. Then BoA got too big to take proper care of their business. At this rate, they will become targets for takeover themselves.
As for MBNA, they weren't all that great on customer service or rates.
We'll see how the new servicing company works out before we do anything with our Bean cards. But if their call center is in India or some other place overseas, we won't be doing any business with that credit company, or even LL Bean. And I've been a customer of theirs since I bought my first fishing lure back in junior high.report abuse

Nothing is cancelled, only switched. No reapplying involved.
