I know of several people who received more benefits then they were entitled to because of failure to report a change in income or circumstances. In all cases, they had to repay benefits, not a jail sentence. I guess the fact that the guy got a good paying job and didn't report it has the gov't people all in an uproar. He made a mistake. We all make mistakes.report abuseHaroldR Soule

Stealing candy from a GAS station would be like stealing pens from a BANK! Totally illogical!

What a joke! This guy is looking a 10 years for stealing $7600 while the lady who stole $500,000+ from Royal River Foods only got 2 years? Based on those sentencing guidelines, the guy should be looking at a maximum of a week in jail followed by a month of probation and during that probation, pay restitution of 50 cents a week. He's probably pretty depressed now too so there's another reason to go easy on him. What's next...is a guy going to be executed for stealing a candy bar from a Mobil station?report abusesub1028
