The statement that there is no delay when the backup system for Cumberland County 911 calls are re-routed is not true. The system, as a backup, is built as the article states, to transfer calls to the Stae police barracks; this in turn takes time which in turn will jeopardize lives. Callers who reported a fire in Gorham have been quoted as stating that delays in the reception of these calls happened. Any County official who tells you that their data shows no delay is lieing to the public. Any call made is not catergorized until a dispatcher picks up the phone period, the system is set up to show only received calls and will not tell the public of any missed or unanswered calls. The computer systems which were paid for by the tax payers were not installed correctly and have been plagued for quit some time; only recently has it come to light.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment.
