This industry is going to be hammered by the cost of diesel which will make it more expensive for the buyers of modular homes to take delivery of a unit built in Oxford, ME and hauled to a homesite. The Oxford plant is not state-of-the art and has limited unique capabilities. If this deal lasts, look for this plant to close again when these buyers figure out that the cost of operating a manufacturing business in Maine, coupled with the price of diesel, not to mention the state of the current housing market, makes this a bad investment.report abuse

It sounds like they will reopen the plant lets hope so and put people back to work.report abuse

So they've bought the company. Doesn't mean that it will re-open soon, if at all.
I rather think the buyer is going to gut the building, assets, dismantle the whole thing and ship it out of state, anyway. So it doesn't matter.report abuse
