However, they vote with a perspective that is outdated and false. You cannot compare statistics from years ago to today. You have no idea what kind of burden is placed on the school by special needs children. Even the majority of the children require a tremendous amount of social support before any education can take place.
Some textbooks are 20 years old.
You cannot analyze this issue as if it were simply a set of financial statements. That's just patently simplistic and lazy. Unless you don't really care about the quality of the education.report abuse

Don't think that threatening the town council members with the next election will make any difference. This is a thankless job. They will say good riddance.

This is pretty funny, when you consider that the nattering nabobs of negativity will be eagerly popping open this article to see how Cape residents might be leading the way on school budget reform. But no. It is their worst dream come true!report abuseKeith

The people have spoken, now the Town Councillors need to take note. We want our children to have the same education that their children had, when text books were up to date, when the elementary school had both a principal and vice principal, when CEEF did not have to step in and fund programs at the schools, because there is no money in the budget for a math lab in the elementary school. Remember, we are the same people who will be voting when you stand for re-election.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment. Register or log in.
