There is a threat out there, a very real threat in China and India. And as long as we get it out of our minds that we can no longer be isolationists, the better off we will be. We can no longer say so what if country A takes over country B, that is none of my concern, where in fact it is our concern in what happens globally.
There is a direct relation between draw down's, RIF's and recessions/depressions. You can look it up if you'd like.report abuse

Time and again, history has shown us that whenever we have drawn down militarily, we have had a need to build it up again. Destroyers are no longer needed for subs, that is the subs job to hunt and kill their own. Today's destroyers are much more flexible than ever before.

If terrorists are coming to attack me with submarines (which is generally what Destroyers defend against) then yes, I welcome them to build more.
