Dateline Augusta 1/3/09 -

Due to all the Maine drivers driving in the WRONG direction on one-way roads and highways during 2008, the Legislature today abolished all one-way highways and streets in Maine.

Drivers are encouraged (but not mandatory) to pay some attention to their driving.

Drivers are encouraged to choose no more than two of the following activities while driving: comb hair, brush teeth, read the paper (on the way to Augusta), eat breakfast, drink coffee (or beer in moderation), text message, or watch a movie.

This listing of course is not meant to be all inclusive.

Maybe he thought the cars coming at him were going the wrong way so he just stood his ground.
