Bob, perhaps you will come back and report to us in July when the tourists are here.

The MEDOT did a study last summer of south bound traffic on I-295 in July and August and, assuming that 70% of the normal southbound I-295 traffic to detour to I-95, MEDOT anticipated that the remaining 40% would represent an DAILY southbound increase to 28,000 cars a day on 201 from the 3,000 normally seen in July and August.

Day 1 is no measure of what it will be like; June is no measure.report abuse

Why is everyone acting like there has never been any traffic on 201. I commute 201 everyday and today was no different except for 5 minutes longer. Chill out, you'll save gas. If not, just shoot yourself if you can't handle 5 or 10 minutes extra.report abuse

We'll see how smooth the evening commute from Disgusta south is for those who have to do it.

Oh, and RP, if you've been reading the various articles, Pike Industries plans to have crews working 24/7--not the same crew of course, but enough crews to continuously work on that roadway until it's done. They have a bonus incentive to finish before the contract deadline and will pay a penalty based on how late it is completed if they miss that deadline.report abuse
