It is differences in speed that create the highest risk of accidents and widening the road should have a positive effect on safety. However the massive amount of damage to the core roadbed from years of neglect, and accelerated greatly by the boat launch construction, is responsible for more than a few front end alignments in the recent past.
To this day I fail to understand why the town failed to consider the condition of Mere Point Road when the boat launch was under consideration as many town residents brought up the issue during town counsel meetings and through editorials in the regional newspaper.report abuse

Well, I hope they revise their expectations... There is a lot of work needed for the amount they have budgeted. I agree with the speeding problem but I see the combination of bicycles, pedestrians, passenger vehicles, and now boat trailers as a more immediate concern, especially at dusk.
