Kid...I generally leave a comment and then, well...leave; my opinion spoken. Yet, I do not recall stating you do not care...it's the odd things you find in this story to care about. How did you get on the "enforcement of current laws" soapbox?? Up-to-date status?? Just where are you going with that?? You have an unusual way of adding complexity to a very simple story...well, it's more a plea for help than a story. It's disturbing to me that the concern I see expressed by you is focused more on the driving ability of this man than his safe return...

Thank you for protecting your family...using your family.
My family does that same with my 72 year old grandmother. It helped to point out that her mother (my great-grandmother) turned her license in at the age of 65 because she felt the same way.report abuse

I know my gram is 89 and doesn't understand why we don't let her drive. One would think the State of Maine would take some intiative to restrict or take their licenses away. It would save family members alot of heartache-but no, they (Augusta)wants to pad their pockets, while reissuing an 80plus year old a license without at least a written test, not to mention a road test.

Sorry kid, It did appear your comment was negative. After re-reading it, I understand-we don't need licenses issued to folks of that age without a written and or road test.
