Wow. Thanks for the history lesson. I thought St. Augustine, FL had the first St. Patrick's church. There are SO many beautiful cathedrals throughout the United States. Should anyone visit NE Florida, it will be worth your time to stop in at the Shrine in St. Augustine. The history of the area (not just the Catholic history) is fascinating. And DO go on the St. Augustine GHOST TOUR and take a horse-drawn carriage ride thru town.report abuse

St. Patrick's Church is in Newcastle Maine. 380 Academy Hill Road. This is a wonderful church community and so very rich in history. St. Denis Church is not far (Whitefield) and is the second oldest church in New England. Both are very beautiful churches steeped in history. You don't have to be a Roman Catholic to appreciate the beauty and history of these two churches.report abuse
