Yes. This debate is about the huge expansion that Pike has proposed.

The old Blue Rock quarry opeated fairly quietly for about 50 years, just scratching at about 10 acres. Now Pike wants to expand to 32 acres, dig it deeper and completly deplete the property.

Quarry operations do not comply with the local zoning. Why hasn't Westbrook simply refused the Pike proposal?report abuse

It's more like moving near a tolerable 2-lane turnpike, and then it moves to 5-lanes. IDEXX was fine with the operation as it is, it was the expansion that they took issue with.report abuse

Idexx's complaint is like moving to a house near the airport or turnpike and then complaining about additional noise when they expand...
