What a shame indeed. The Great Eastern mussels are a much better product than the Canadian mussels. Many people, who have previously never liked them, are newfound fans of mussels after trying Great Eastern's finest. Aquaculture technology like this is the way of the future. Sustainable food supplies, higher quality than nature provides, local suppliers and local jobs. It should have been a win-win situation. This is a sad day for Maine.report abuseThomas Carter

Very sad. They had a great product, employed 40, and paid tons of taxes.
