Seriously, are people really upset about this?
If nothing else, does it hurt for the troops to see that people in Congress still give a (Expletive Deleted) about them and how they are treated?
Maybe some troops had something to say about medical treatment? Imagine that, even if he spent a majority of his time in the "real clean places" he might have recieved from input from those who have experience as the patient.
Or maybe I'm just being silly and our Congressfolk should only give a hoot about what the pollsters at CNN, FOX, MSNBC... tell them to care about. Maybe Mr. Michaud should disregard those members of his constituency who aren't fearing a cold winter but IEDs, bullets and all of the dangers that present themselves every second of every day in the desert.
What selfish people those troops must be for distracting our Congressfolk in this time of woe, how dare they!
I'm pretty sure I may have to go vommit now, some of my fellow Mainers are making me sick.
If I offended anyone, this time I really don't care. I have too many friends in the desert to listen to people gripe about how THEIR (cause they are citizens too) Congressman should stop paying attention to them.report abuse

Okay, maybe I'm just being silly here but I'm relatively sure that when Congessfolk go to Iraq it's not something tossed together over a weekend. I'm sorry Frank whoknows, but if Congress was in session Mr. Michaud would still be going to Iraq because he has a responsibility (to the troops!) to do so.

Good job Mike, while the republicans are sitting in airconditioned offices in Washington Mike is out looking out for the troops, and for Mr. Wendell Gee, from my experience that is how the big issues get handled and problems taken care of. Iv been in Iraq, kosovo, Liberia, Desert Storm. We have some real issues facing these vets and all you can do is play politics. shame on you! what happened to support our troops, Mike is doing it maybe you should get on board.report abusewilliealso

They talk with the medical chiefs, what a waste of time and money to send these people to the war zone. Anytime a big wig come to visit they are showed the only real clean places and not out behind some old building. I wonder how much military time was served by these know all about it congressmen?report abuseRick

From my experience serving overseas, these congressional trips are more disruptive than helpful. Michaud isn't qualified to determine whether health care is adequate or not.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment. Register or log in.
