I just don't see Dirigo staying afloat during lean times. And we're overdue for this cyclic thing. We'll see.

On a more national scale... In 2007, the U.S. spent a projected $2.26 trillion on health care, or $7,439 per person. You couldnt beat this even with 200,000,000 Americans paying 1000 apiece. Don't even think of nationalized health care without bringing the medical costs down to realistic & sane levels first. Something that goes up 6 percent every year just isn't right.report abuse

The state already has a backup plan if the repeal goes through. They will do anything to save this Dirigo mess.

What the hell does President Bush and Dr. Rice have to do with the failed democrat dirigo program in Maine?

This is exactly why no one likes liberals! They can not stay on topic!

Everything is the Presidents fault! Dolt!report abuse

I am one of those people who signed the petition. I feel the same today as I did when I signed. If I do not have health insurance, why should I have to pay for someone else to have it? My husband is currently laid off from his place of employment, I work full-time, and I have two kids, none of us have insurance. I have had one operation since we lost our coverage, and I am paying that bill on my own. I am not going to ask someone else to pay for it. I understand some people can't afford to pay thier own bills, GET A JOB. The elderly are one catergory, the ones who live off the welfare system are another. Before I got my current job I was a waitress, where again health coverage was not offered. I did not nor have I ever had someone else to help pay for my insurance. Today's society believes that they are owed everything. What happened to hard work earns you what you need? Stop taxing the people. The state of Maine is just trying to drive all the little guys out and keep the out-of-state visitors with lots of money.report abuse
