Yes, but the Mississippi delta has been aftected by 150+ years of the Army Corp of Engineers building higher and higher levees in an attempt to control the river.report abuseTheCynic

(And Wheelie - yes, the rivers WOULD overflow when rivers and streams rise. Ever heard of the Mississippi Delta? LOL! Yes, dams can be the cause of some flooding, but floods will occur with or without dams. Man, I love ignorance...)report abuse

Why not just remove all the dams and let nature return the river banks go back to how it should look.
