If Gustav hits it shouldn't make Maine's gas prices go up. Most of it comes from the Irving Refinery in St. John, NB. They export 44% of their output to the USA.
Also, after Katrina hit, G W Bush released oil from the reserve and lifted the ban on European Gasoline.
It takes 21 days for products to arrive via the pipeline from the Gulf Coast. Only five days from Europe.report abuse

The rices will be manipulated to around 3.50 (cheap) and that's where they'll stay. does anyone feel like a dog on a leash?report abuse

I bought gas at $3.519 on Rt 26 in Welchville on Wed. Gas in the Norway/South Paris area is always cheaper than Central Maine. I buy gas there every time I have to travel to that area.report abuse

From what I read in the NY paper yesterday, the price of a barrel of oil went up $4 with the annoucement that Hurrican Gustav is headed to the Gulf of Mexico.

Doubt prices will be going down anytime soon.report abuse
