Yup that HARRY sure has a winner with his "has an opportunity to go to college and become a highly skilled worker that will never be laid off" comment.

These things can be done in places that don't require heating much cheaper plus where labor is cheaper too. It can only get worse.report abuseEdmund

FYI my Sis is 56 and is just smart enough to have another enterprise on the side. Where do you get off? Funny, I never got a degree and run two successful businesses in a high tech field, guess that blows your bull right out of the water. And the last time I checked with Verso they were going gang busters trying to keep up with export orders. See how lovely all this works when the dollar isn't worth the paper its printed on.report abuseCRD

And recycle, this is where you are an idiot. The East Millinocket mill, I believe uses 40% recycle in their paper and pipe recycle to the Millinocket mill.
Any other factless comments Harry.
The problem with the mills in that area is that they have been mismanaged since Nekoosa corp bought into Great Northern.
And Harry I will qualify my comments by saying that I grew up in the East Millinocket area, I worked one summer in the mill and I have been in the engineering field where most of my 22 years of experience has been working in the mills.
And yours?report abuse

Harry, what qualifies you to be such an expert on the mills in Maine. As matter of FACT, mills are continually upgrading their machines to make them more efficient. Unfortunately these upgrades sometimes cost jobs. The mill in Lincoln put a new machine in 2 years ago and hired people. The mill in Rumford has done several rebuilds on their #15 paper machine and other processes in the mill.
And recycle, this is where you are an idiot. The East Millinocket mill, I believe uses 40% recycle in their paper and pipe recycle to the Millinocket mill.
