How silly. Why should anything be only sold in Maine? Using that logic we would have to eat every potato grown in the state here and not send any out of state. If every state decided that products produced in any state could only be sold there, where do you suppose bananas are gonna come from? Want asparagus in January. Good luck. I wonder where we'll get our citrus? Oh, and if it should only be used in the state it comes from then maybe only the town it's in. Um-where ya gonna get the copper for the wires to transmit the power to the houses in that town? I don't think we have the capacity for a copper mine here. Why are some people so afraid someone might generate not only power but income?report abuse

Does it matter? Electricity is a commodity. The owners of the wind farm will sell their commodity to whomever will pay the most for it. If CMP pays their rate, CMP will in turn sell you that power. If CMP can get cheaper power elsewhere, it probably will.

If CMP offers you the option of buying power from this wind farm, but it costs more than their Standard Offer, will you buy it?

It's not like there's a Power Wall at the borders that keeps it all in here...report abuse

That brings up a good question, DP.

I think it's very curious that this article doesn't bother to mention just WHERE the power will be used...

... sort of makes one think, doesn't it?report abuse
