Bush and the Republicans supported the Corn Lobby and the ethonal interests.
Bush sign an order for low sulfer diesel fuel.
He screwed Big Oil by letting European gasoline to be imported after Katrina.
All those pictures of Caribou on TV are not from where they want to drill. There are no mountains or even grass there.
Throw a pack of matches on a football field. That is the same relationship as where they want to drill.report abuse

Republicans would like to rely on the false hope, or I should say are using the issue of oil dependency, to motivate the neocon base in a cynical petro-patriotic ploy that results in the simple minded chanting "drill baby drill, drill baby drill". Part of any real alternative energy policy will require retiring as many republicans as soon as possible.report abuse

It is on each citizen. Cut back, conserve and use some common sense. It wouldn't take a lot of indivual change to make a huge collective difference. Oil is on it's way out - look ahead not back. Adapt or perish.report abuse
