I doubt if the arsonist even thought of it being convention weekend, just as I doubt the arsonist realized there was a scheduled meeting to take place at the Milo Town Hall Monday night for DownTown Revitalization. The grant monies approved for the Revitalization Project should be properly spent. Of the businesses claiming losses, only 2 were full time working establishments, True Value and House of Pizza. Insurance claims will be made by others, as should be at least by HobNobbers too, as this was a new business in town in a rented building, although limited hours. What's extremely interesting is that nearly all of the strip had been for sale, so the owners all wanted out from underneath their business anyways. I assisted in fighting that spectacular fire and I cannot believe the ignorance of town residents to show up and watch us working so hard, while speculations worked their way through the crowds of onlookers. Children in strollers, on bicycles, in cars, sat in those fumes while Mom and Dad nosed around. And to think, a state that has just banned smoking in cars, shame on NOSEY people. As a reminder to people, if you see or smell a fire, make sure your first step is to call 911, do not attempt to extinguish the fire yourself, vital time can be lost.report abuse---

Harry, you may be right. Arson tends to have too reasons: money, or "I'm gonna get even with that cheating (fill in the blank)". Either way its a cowards crime and deserves a LONG sentence.report abuseYou must be a registered user of MaineToday.com to post a comment. Register or log in.
