meeza...i have an education...i have a good job...i pay for my own health insurance...i pay for my own daycare...i pay for my own housing costs...i pay for my own food...we run out every month and have to scrape and pinch and live no better than if we were earning half as much and getting all kinds of aid...that is SCREWED UP!!!!report abusen a

they should use your taxable income not your gross income as the guideline...or if they are worried about abuse from rich folks who abuse the tax system then at least allow a person to subtract health ins premiums and child care costs from the gross as long as they can show proof of having actually paid it out.report abuse

what chaps my butt when they set these guidelines is that they go on gross wages. now i "gross" 2k more than that limit for my family of 4...we qualify for assistance with NOTHING!!! after i pay for health insurance for my family i actually have 29k to live on. yet the guy down the street who "grosses" 29k gets free health insurance, and all kinds of other perks and extras...short of the dignity of paying my own way what is the incentive for me to bother to keep working so hard to earn more...i may as well go work at a convenience store and rake in the aid from the gov't to cover everything else!

hearmenow...i feel for ya,gotta be tough,but you can hold your head up and be proud even though it's rough at times,i know...my mom was a widow at 28 with 4 of us,didnt have the welfare then like they do now.report abuse

hey reader...good idea,because alot of the problem are people from mass,and other states too,are comming up here and getting on welfare because it's so so easy, they have no shame.
