Many of you who make comments about what you think homeless people are or are not, have no idea what you are talking about. You are running on assumptions and stereotypes. Let me know when you actually get to know a few of these people, their stories and what they go through then you can form and educated opinion; I guarantee you it will be different.
Let's not forget, a man lost his life and another is dealing with the difficulty of being the one who took it. There are 2 very sad and distraught families who need to be considered and deserve respect. Please give these families the same respect you would want if something so tragic happened to your family.report abuse

I think so many of you are insensitive and down-right mean. Yes, it was a homeless man but you should not assume he was a "bum". Portland has many homeless people who work, some full-time jobs, and cannot afford housing because housing is so ridiculously over-priced. I am sure there are people throughout the City who knew him and I am sure he will be missed.
