Maine probably should "strengthen" its lottery first. It needs to seriously consider the "Hot Lotto" game that is played in New Hampshire, 11 other states, and D.C. (Hot Lotto is part of the same organization as Powerball.) The starting jackpot of 500k (and unable to come close to $2 million lately) of T-S Megabucks proves it's a small jackpot game. Hot Lotto is now almost $10 million.report abuse

Rhode Island is experiencing success with cathouses. Why don't we try that and add a 25% tax for services rendered?report abuse

Getabigdish...

You have said what I have said since thw last vote on a Casino. Where does all the money for Cabelas go, Unum, Sappi, Blue Cross Blue Shield, hanaford Bros, Shaws,Time warner, General Dynamic the US Postal Service...and on and on and on....the money the workers make stays in the state!!!!!

I do not like the location and actually thought Sanford would be a better spot. I originally was voting against it , but the more I think about it, the mentality and lies that Casinos No spread and seeing the coward puppet Dennis Bailey, I am voting for it...it is sad, it is almost a vote out of spite.

I hate to say it, but it is already too late, if it passed last time we would be in a little better shape, although casino number are down.

and by the way Mr. Baldacci have we had those meetings regarding the casinos yet, the ones you said would take place after it was defeated.report abuse

Having lived in NY for 5 years, I enjoyed the financial surplus and programs that they were able to provide their residents........through gambling. I thank the state of NY for the incredible dental work I received on their dime! Now I am home.

Maine needs to wake up. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs......programs: tax relief, education assistance, scheduled transportation expansion to rural areas, programs for children, the elderly, the disabled, special needs, veterans, oh yes, state run adult dental programs, expanded prescriptions for the poor, that current MaineCare doesn't cover.......the surplus could be used for all of this.

A vote for the casino (YES on 2) would make it happen, and help so many.report abuse

This is a surprise, and surge for Question two!

The ballot measure is badly flawed and I'd almost vote against it on those grounds; but once again I think the regime in disGUSTA needs to be sent a message on their monopoly on Gambling and that 'WE the People' will decide.

Warts and all; it's worthy to support as a CITIZEN REFERENDUM and its passage will spur more citizens to submit referenda in the future.report abuse
