There are deer all over the place in this area. They hang out in town because people feed them. I have had several vehicle/deer accidents, IN TOWN. And this year there were no doe permits issued in this area....ought to make for a fun winter. Thank you again state of Maine.report abusemaggiemay

They should make hunting season alot longer just because of the accidents.Drop the doe permits. The same with the Moose season,make it longer.report abuseLee

The lower the car and more aerodynamic the easier it is for an animal to make it to the windshield.
Striking a deer with the fender, in my opinion, could not cause a fatality except for the deer. but scooping one into your windshield will greatly increase the risk of serious injury to the front seat passengers.
I wonder, does the airbag deploy when it is just those spindly legs hitting the "bumper"?report abuse

The report, from the article didn't mention that the rise in the past 15 years maybe due, in part, from vehicle sizes going down.
The lower the car and more aerodynamic the easier it is for an animal to make it to the windshield.
