If trained investigators, who are cops to start with, don't investigate, then who will? Appoint the local barber, the dentist, and the librarian because they are "unbiased professionals?" Get real!!report abuse

I am not suggesting that this shooting was not justified or that most of the shootings are not justified. However, I am suggesting that NOT ALL shootings are justified in spite of the fact that the AG's office invariably finds them so. I am particularly knowledgeable about a shooting in Monmouth in 2000. I had the displeasure of meeting the officer who was on administrative leave following the shooting. At the time, he was as whacky/paranoid as anyone I have ever met. As an official 2000 census taker assigned to the area where he lived, I had to be escorted by his retired state police officer father, so that I was not harmed. As was once suggested by some legislators several years ago after another questionable police shooting, investigations should be done by a balanced group of unbiased professionals. Cops investigating cops does not meet that criteria.report abuse
