If trained investigators, who are cops to start with, don't investigate, then who will? Appoint the local barber, the dentist, and the librarian because they are "unbiased professionals?" Get real!!report abuseBill Randall

I am not suggesting that this shooting was not justified or that most of the shootings are not justified. However, I am suggesting that NOT ALL shootings are justified in spite of the fact that the AG's office invariably finds them so. I am particularly knowledgeable about a shooting in Monmouth in 2000. I had the displeasure of meeting the officer who was on administrative leave following the shooting. At the time, he was as whacky/paranoid as anyone I have ever met. As an official 2000 census taker assigned to the area where he lived, I had to be escorted by his retired state police officer father, so that I was not harmed. As was once suggested by some legislators several years ago after another questionable police shooting, investigations should be done by a balanced group of unbiased professionals.
