Maine doesn't want a Casino. And when we did vote for the 'Racino' the people were screwed over, so yeah, we don't want another one.
What is so hard to understand about that?
Maine likes real jobs that involve creating wealth, not just stealing if legally from others.
Here are some examples:
Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland;
IDEXX Laboratories, in Westbrook;
Unum, in Portland;
TD Banknorth, in Portland;
L.L. Bean in Freeport;
Cole Haan and Delorme, both located in Yarmouth. Jackson Laboratory, the world's largest non-profit mammalian genetic research facility and the world's largest supplier of genetically purebred mice.
Maine Energy Systems
Blue Rock Industries, Westbrook
General Electric, Bangor
Katahdin Paper, Millinocket
The March 2004 issue of INC. Magazine includes Portland, Maine in its listing of the top 25 cities for doing business in America.
The Milken Institute: The Milken Institute is a pro-business institute that has developed a
“Cost-of-Doing-Business Index,” ranking the 50 states in an annual report. The index is
designed to indicate “each state’s comparative advantages or disadvantages in attracting and
retaining businesses,” and measures basic business costs — wages, taxes, electricity, and real estate expenses for industrial and office space.Interestingly, on this index, Maine ranked 19th in 2005; a far cry from the alarmist claims by business climate analyses.report abuse

Maine has an excellent workforce, that is appreciated by the companies that move here.
I think all you people whining about Maine being anti-business probably are just fired worker bees, who have never actually run a business here.report abuse

Eugene, we get their tax dollars, and if they are not here during most of the year they aren't using local services, so that is a win situation for Maine. Much different than a casino.
